Kishkindha Kaandam Movie Review - A Blessing In Disguise

A terrific script executed flawlessly now stands tall as my favourite movie of this year so far. This is a fantastic Onam treat. With a diabolical and absorbing experience, this is originality at its best.

This is a stunning work about memory and trauma. Its an audacious exploration of memory, identity, and truth is executed with finesse, offering a thought-provoking experience that lingers long after the credits roll. The film also explores the manipulation of it knowingly or un-knowingly to suit our needs. Its sometimes a blessing in disguise. How it tricks you, deceives you, leads you astray is something you need to experience in theater.

Backed up by a tight and thoroughly convincing performance from the three lead pairs, this film actually deserves subsequent discussions. The story revolves around retired army officer and his family. Things go haywire when his licensed gun goes missing. How its linked to past events of his family and what follows is a relentless slow burner kind of pursuit to find the truth. Vijaya Raghavan as Appu pillai is a stand out. He show cases vulnerability and restraint with ease. Then there is some impeccable performances from Aparna and Asif Ali and they compliment each other superbly.

This is a different kind of slow burn thriller and a must watch in my opinion. In some ways it reminded me of the cult classic from Nolan.

Verdict - 4/5(A trip into the mind)
