Director: Prakash Kovelamudi
Cast: Kangana Ranaut, Rajkummar Rao
With an original , unique premise and two of the brilliant actors at disposal, i was expecting an offbeat Psychological thriller. And the start was indeed a promising one. The first half had all of the stylish elements of a typical Sriram Raghavan thriller. Kangana suffering from an acute psychosis shows the typical vulnerabilities at its best (is there anyone else better suited for that kind of role). I have to say the queen strikes back when it comes to performance even though her character selection are being repetitive in nature. When she gets obsessed with the newly married tenet things go out of control. Whom to trust and who is telling the truth is presented in an interesting way. The screen play was brisk and humor was rustic. Then comes the second half and thats where it looses its steam and followed by a messy climax makes it a above average film. Loop holes and coincidences are plenty. A good back story for Rajkummar would have added more spice and meaning to this thriller. The metaphor of Ramayana did work out to some extent but i felt exhausted. Barring the last scene, i did not enjoy the second half that much even though its a good experi-mental film. Its shame that a good opportunity was lost. My recommendation wait for the Amazon/Netflix release.
Verdict - 3/5(Duniya mein logo ko dhoka kabhi hoo jaat hai )
