The remake obsession with South Korean content continues. This time Pagglait director Umesh Bist picked up a convoluted thriller Signal (2016) and gave a desi flavor.
Unlike Signal which is very slow paced, confusing at times and elaborate, this is a show you can binge watch, thanks to its run times and brisk pace.
With the narrative spanning across timelines (1990,2001 and 2016), the show is about two detectives trying to solve cold cases (Statute of limitations) using walkie-talkies. This is not a science fiction or fantasy, so don't expect to get clear cut answers on why and how the heck.
The idea of manipulating the past to change the future is not new and its always a hard sell (except for the German Series Dark which nailed it to perfection). It can illogical and some portion feels really silly, nevertheless the intrigue really comes from how the director chose to tell the story. For most part its engaging and fun backed by few meaty performances. If you are thriller fan and not seen the original, give it a try. The conclusion has to wait for season 2 as the crime solving involves now a third entrant cliffhanger.
Verdict - 3/5(A walkie-talkie in Uttarakhand)
