Don't Come Home Series Review - A compelling sci-fi mystery

This year we had two low budget sci-fiction genre films (Gaganachari and Blink) and both of them attempted something different. Though not riveting as such both experiment worked out for me. Now here comes a Thai Netflix original which is not only impressive but keeps you guessing till the end with nicely plotted twists.

The story kicks of with woman running away from her past along with daughter to her ancestral home. It starts of like an ordinary haunted mansion and jump scare approach in first episode. But soon it changes it course to something different with unexpected little blows, when the child goes missing. What follows is a detailed police investigation and pulling the puzzles together.

The director was not interested in giving you the scientific reasoning but was more focused towards characters and the psychological aspects associated with it. The title really made sense for the story and its a great show on motherhood and trauma. This is a well executed paradox of age old concept of loops and cycle continuation.

While there are a couple of questions and confusions that arise in the course of the film its stitched well in a sadly ending part which may not work for others. The acting was bit of let down for sure. Overall its a great watch.

Verdict - 3.5/5(A great conundrum)
